ProtectWise Appoints Former Commander of Army Cyber Command to Advisory Board
Lieutenant General Rhett A. Hernandez, U.S. Army (Retired) Named Company’s First Strategic Advisor
DENVER ─ June 23, 2015 ─ ProtectWise, provider of the industry’s first Cloud Network DVR for complete visibility and detection of enterprise threats and accelerated incident response, has appointed former Commander of Army Cyber Command, Lieutenant General (Ret.) Rhett A. Hernandez as the first member of its Advisory Board. The board will serve as a strategic resource for ProtectWise as it continues to innovate its Cloud Network DVR for enterprise security and increase its market penetration.
“ProtectWise’s cloud-based approach to network security is a game changer,” said Lieutenant General (Ret.) Rhett A. Hernandez. “It’s an incredible opportunity to be part of an effort that is truly re-imagining network security rather than just iterating on today’s outdated and ineffective model.”
Currently serving as the U.S. Military Academy Cyber Chair to the Army Cyber Institute, Hernandez retired from after 39 years of distinguished service in the United States Army.
His final active duty assignment was as the Commander of Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER). As ARCYBER’s first commander, he stood up a global cyber-force that eventually totaled more than 17,000 personnel and directed the daily operations and defense of all Army networks with more than 1 million users. He also led the development of transformational concepts, plans and programs to increase the Army’s ability to conduct land and cyber operations.
Prior to ARCYBER, General Hernandez served as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Army Operations, Chief, U.S. Military Training Mission, Saudi Arabia and Commanding General, Human Resources Command. In all three positions he led significant transformational efforts, and was involved in key issues and decisions at the highest levels. General Hernandez holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy, West Point, a Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia and a Masters of National Security Strategy from the National War College where he was named a distinguished graduate.
“Our vision for the advisory board is to bring together the best minds from across the information security, national defense, and security end-users communities to continue to re-think and innovate how security is delivered,” said Scott Chasin, co-founder and CEO, ProtectWise. “We’re honored to have a person of Lieutenant General Hernandez’s distinction and expertise as the first member of our advisory board.”
ProtectWise will announce additional members of their Strategic Advisory Board in the coming weeks.
