Arsenal Venture Partners Holds Annual Investors Meeting
Arsenal Venture Partners held their Annual Investors Meeting on March 16th at the Alfond Inn in downtown Winter Park. The meeting featured distinguished guest speakers Major General Elder Granger and John Nolan, both Strategic Advisors for Arsenal. Major General Elder Granger formerly served in the US Army as Deputy Director and program Executive Officer of TRICARE for the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense. He also served as commander of the Task Force 44th Medical Command and as Command Surgeon for the Multinational Corps Iraq. John Nolan is a former Deputy Postmaster General and member of the Board of Governors for the US Postal Service and has also managed operations for Merrill Lynch Production Technologies. Major General Granger spoke of the current state of healthcare, obstacles, and the sector’s progress while Mr. Nolan discussed postal trends and upcoming technologies utilized by the USPS.
Major General Elder Granger advises Arsenal on its healthcare investment efforts and works with multiple healthcare portfolio companies. A consultant and advisor on healthcare, specializing in defense healthcare, with more than 30 years of experience in the public and private sectors, he currently serves as CEO of military healthcare consulting firm ‘The 5Ps’. For the US Army, Elder served as deputy director and program executive officer of TRICARE management activity for the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs), where he oversaw the DoD’s managed care program for 9.2 million service members, families, and retirees. As commander of the Task Force 44th Medical Command and command surgeon for the Multinational Corps Iraq, he led the largest US and multinational battlefield health system in recent history. Elder earned an MD from the University of Arkansas School of Medicine, where he held the Henry Kaiser Medical Fellowship for Medical Excellence and Leadership, and a BS from Arkansas State University, where he was a distinguished military graduate.
John Nolan advises Arsenal on its commerce and logistics investment efforts and works with multiple portfolio companies. With a background as a senior executive, board member and business leader in both the government and private sectors, he currently serves as counselor and consultant to senior executives in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors. A former Deputy Postmaster General and member of the Board of Governors for the US Postal Service, John began his career as a management intern for the agency and rose in the organization to become regional director for customer service and then New York general manager and postmaster. He has also managed operations for Merrill Lynch Production Technologies, specializing in commercial printing, computer printing, fulfillment, mail operations, logistics and proxy services. John chairs the Smithsonian Institution’s National Postal Museum and serves on the board of Linden Resources. He has served on numerous corporate and nonprofit boards, including those for Streamlite, SkyShop Logistics, Envelop Manufacturers Foundation, Washington & Lee University Shepherd Poverty Program (former chair), and St. Columba’s Episcopal Church Vestry. He completed Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development and holds a BA from Washington & Lee University.
