Arsenal Venture Partners Exits Arctic Sand Technologies, Inc.

Leader in power conversion devices acquired by Peregrine Semiconductor, a Murata Company

Winter Park, FL – April 27, 2017 –  Arsenal Venture Partners announced the closing of the sale of Massachusetts Institute of Technology spin-off Arctic Sand Technologies, Inc. to Peregrine Semiconductor.

Arctic Sand develops power conversion chips that offer significant improvements in power conversion efficiency, transient performance and EMI, in footprints 2-4x smaller than the best in class competitors today and with a significantly lower profile, enabling smaller, thinner, lighter and more power efficient products to be realized. Arsenal Venture Partners led Arctic Sand’s Series A round in cooperation with Lake Bridge Capital Partners and both General Electric and Murata participated in follow-on financings.

Jim Cable, chairman and CTO of Peregrine Semiconductor and global R&D director at Murata Manufacturing issued this statement, “With this acquisition, Peregrine and Murata gain Arctic Sand’s disruptive technology, strong IP portfolio and world-class team. With a vision to revolutionize the power electronics industry, we’re building the power integrated circuit (IC) ‘dream team’.”

“This acquisition makes great sense for both parties” commented Gary Davison, CEO of Arctic Sand, “We could not have built this great company without the contribution of Arsenal Venture Partners. Their market insights, entrepreneurial experience, and strategic perspective was absolutely critical to our growth and maturation.”
